About Us

Christmas Meet and Greet

The University of the Third Age Taunton (u3a) is affiliated to the Third Age Trust. It provides members with an opportunity to develop existing interests or take up new ones. No qualifications are required and none are given.

U3a's all over the UK share the same philosophy but each one develops its own character according to its members and resources; programmes cover cultural, social and recreational activities. By joining Taunton u3a you will become a member of a growing movement.

We are run entirely by our members for our members on a voluntary basis, sharing our interests and skills in our groups. For a full list of all our interest groups, and for further details, please click on the Groups tab at the top of this page.

The charges made for attending one of our groups will vary depending on the venue, as all our groups are self-funding.

Newcomers to any group can attend their first two sessions free of charge before making a decision about joining. For details of membership, please go to the Join Us page.

Here at Taunton u3a we aim to ensure that all members feel welcome and included, regardless of their background or circumstances.

We are committed to providing a positive and enriching experience for all our members.  We have an Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Policy in place to make sure Taunton u3a is as accessible as possible to all our members, to ensure that all members’ voices are heard and encourage all members to fully participate to the best of their abilities.  With this aim in mind, we welcome carers to accompany members who need assistance to participate fully in our groups and meetings. The policy can be found here.
