Genealogy is the study and tracing of family lineages, history, and relationships using historical records, oral interviews, and genetic analysis. It involves reconstructing past generations through birth/marriage/death certificates, census data, and DNA testing to build family trees. Key resources include the use of internet facilities such as Ancestry. It is usual to start with known informaiton and work backward, utilising primary sources like vital records, passenger lists and military documents.

This is a group for beginners who may need help getting started in researching their family history.
