This group delves into all aspects of history: ancient, modern, local, national, world-wide. We enjoy talks (long or short) from group members with lively discussion throughout. We sometimes have speakers and outings to places of interest. We have use of microphones and visual display equipment to enable the group to share information easily.

We start to gather at 10am to socialise with the session proper starting at 10.30am. Members pay £2 per meeting to cover the room hire and to pay for the fees of outside speakers. For further information please contact the convenor by email using the link above.

Typical subjects throughout the year include:-

• A sociable historical quiz;
• Professional speakers;
• Historical walks around Taunton and surrounding towns in the summer;
• Some varied 20 minute talks by the convenors;
• Themed sessions where we encourage members to share with us all 15 minute talks of their own making (purely voluntarily). Space in the programme can usually be found if a member wishes to give a presentation of longer duration.
